Fast and Female NonProfit Ambassador Program
The Challenge We Took On
Fast and Female is a national Canadian charity dedicated to keeping girls active in sports by connecting them with inspiring role models.
Before the pandemic, their R.E.A.L. (Relatable, Empowered, Active, Leaders) Role Model program had grown into a thriving network of more than 1,000 ambassadors, including Olympians, Paralympians, firefighters, and community leaders. Like many organizations, the pandemic disrupted that momentum, and engagement dropped significantly. When programming resumed, only 14 percent of the original ambassadors were still actively participating. Fast and Female partnered with Symal Creative to help reenergize the community and rebuild engagement with their national network of role models.
The Impact We Made
Symal Creative approached the challenge through a community-first engagement strategy that focused on listening to the ambassadors rather than simply asking more of them. We launched a gamified campaign designed to reconnect role models with the organization while giving Fast and Female deeper insight into their community. The initiative included a monthly role model newsletter celebrating impact and inviting participation, a national engagement survey that gathered feedback on ambassadors’ experiences and needs, and a digital badge that participants could display on LinkedIn after completing the survey. The campaign reignited momentum across the program, increasing ambassador engagement from 14 % to to 43% and driving a 32% increase in volunteer signups for events, while also providing valuable insights that helped guide the future of the program.
